TRAMTARIA - Seven Summits

The Fascinating One
Kilimanjaro, 5.894 m

The view of the highest African mountain is fascinating - above savanna rises a giant hill decorated with a beautiful white cap that can be seen within hundred kilometres distance when visibility allows it.
The volcanic monument is not only the highest African summit that covers area of approximately 520 km2. It is also one of the highest hills which is not a part of any mountain range. The last century Ludwig Purtscheller's first ascend was accompanied by 65 Sherpas and this trend has not changed since. The demand to climb this peak is quite high and you can meet crowds of tourists on the trails leading to the edge of crater - so called Gillman's Peak, 5.685m where most of them finish their ascend. However, the top - Uhuru Peak, is about 200-m higher.
Nevertheless, this for the first sight easy "hill" demands ability to cope with the climatic differences between African savanna and the cold mountaintop.
